The V.B.S. of 2005 is very specially edged in the history of Egmore Wesley. A small band of kids in the age group of 5 – 15, who live right opposite the church- across the Poonamalee High Road, walked into our campus to be a part of the 10 day annual event. Their enthusiasm was contagious. We realized that God had brought these children to His church with a definite plan. And thus was sown the seed for the Tamil Bible School.
We meet every Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Sunday School hall. The average attendance is 50-60 children. About 6 teachers come regularly. Each afternoon’s session begins with a time of singing and worship. You can hear the children “shout for joy” even at the church gate. At about 4:40 p.m. we split up into classes based on the age group. Bible lessons, mostly based on the Sunday School curriculum are taught. We assemble again at about 5:20 p.m., have some refreshment and then break up.
The children memorize verses every day. It amazes us that many of them can now complete a verse when we just say the first few words. “From the lips of children and infants, you have ordained praise” (Ps 8:2)
It’s a joy to be with the children every week. We invite you to drop in any Saturday afternoon and share the experience.
