HISTORY
Egmore Wesley Church stands as a beacon of faith, deeply rooted in the Methodist tradition, and holds a legacy of over 120 years. Our journey began with the pioneering work of Methodist missionaries who laid the foundation for spreading the Gospel in South India.
Established on the principles of love, salvation by faith, and the witness of God's Spirit, our church has become a cornerstone of spiritual growth, community service, and fellowship in Madras (now Chennai).
REV BENJAMIN INBARAJ
FROM THE PRESBYTER'S DESK
Dearly Beloved in the Lord,

If you are in search to worship the Lord in an ancient and beautiful setting then the CSI Egmore Wesley Church is the one among the best options in Chennai, the erstwhile Madras City. Located in proximity to both the Central and Egmore Railway stations, the church is part of the CSI Wesley English Pastorate comprising of the Broadway English Wesley and the Egmore Wesley Churches, under the Diocese of Madras.
Apart from the serenely green settings which provide the worshipping atmosphere, the liturgy is simple in keeping with the Wesleyan Methodist tradition. The worship is enhanced by the melodious and soulful hymns from the Methodist Hymn Book.
The special singing session by the youth brings vitality to the liturgy. The pulpit is dedicated to the preaching of the word. The sermons focus upon blending the Biblical interpretations with applications that makes the Holy Bible relevant to our lives today.
The CSI Egmore Wesley congregation shines forth through its Christian witness of sharing the love of Christ with the people belonging to the margins. One of the main concerns of this congregation is to serve the mentally challenged children. Parivalaya is a special school run on the campus serves the families struggling with the mentally challenged children with free education and day care. The congregation is also concerned about school going children of the economically challenged sections of the society.
The Guided Evening Study Centre is served by the members of the congregation and others from the neighbouring churches who volunteer to tutor the children to excel in education as well as prayerful guidance for the adolescent children. The engagement with the women from the under privileged communities is another faith exercise to witness the love of Christ in the neighborhood. The congregation is generous in giving and passionate about building churches in the villages and organizing community development programs.
The church has vibrant fellowship groups. The Sunday School lively and engaging. The Youth Fellowship is an active wing of the worship and ministry of the church. Men’s and Women’s Fellowships are regular and contemplative.
