Iyyappanthangal, a village on the outskirts of Chennai within the CSI Porur Pastorate, is a fast developing area. A small congregation of about 30 families has been started in that area through the efforts of an evangelist and the Porur Pastorate. The congregation has been meeting for services on Sunday evenings on the open terrace of a house. The members of the Porur Pastorate, with foresight, dedication and commitment purchased about 3 grounds (7200 sq.ft) of land at Iyyappanthangal to build a church which would cater to the needs of the nearby villages. Since the congregation had exhausted its resources in investing in the land, a request was made to our Church to help by constructing a Church on the available land, as part of the Tercentenary birth celebrations of John Wesley.

The proposed church, designed beautifully by our members Mr A.J John and Padmashree Mr Durairaj , with a built up area of about 1500 sq.ft is expected to accommodate about 200-250 people. The approximate cost of the proposed construction around Rs 10,00,000/- (Ten lakhs) is being raised by our Church through various fund raising efforts.
